THE MAN........PROF. J.E.A. MILLS

“There is only one version of the truth and that is the truth”- Prof. Mills.
Affectionately called Agya Atta, memories of his well lived life will forever be remembered. Although, I did not get the opportunity to meet this man in person but his words of peace and cordial cohesiveness are what made me fell in love with this illustrious son of the land. With such rich academic credentials, Prof. Mills impacted on the lives and churned out many graduates of substance.
His successful rise from academia through to becoming the President truly speaks volumes of his most cherished moral values. And my most fond memory of Prof is how he allowed and gave opportunities to the youth in his party to form part of his government.
As he rightly pointed out in one of his speeches “to have an impact on your generation, it is not how you live but what you did with your life”
Prof, your life style truly befits a gentle role model and your wise words will forever keep you fresh in our memory.

MAY THE LORD KEEP YOUR SOUL…………REST IN PERFECT PEACE.

PUBLIC FIGURES AND THE ISSUE OF PRIVACY

Following the utterances of the daughter of Nelson Mandela, Makaziwe Mandela that “the fact that my dad is a global icon does not mean that people cannot respect the privacy and dignity of my dad. “There’s sort of a racist element with many of the foreign media, where they just cross boundaries. You have no idea what’s happening at the hospital … You can’t even enter the hospital or you can’t even go out of the hospital because they are making themselves such a nuisance. It’s like truly vultures waiting when the lion has devoured the buffalo, waiting there for the last carcass. That’s the image that we have as a family. And we don’t mind the interest, but I just think it has gone overboard” – (South African Broadcasting Corporation),
I honestly think that the issue of privacy of public figures must seriously be reconsidered.
As much as I share in the frustrations that the Mandela family are going through, I humbly suggest that such a media blast will not help resolve matters. Nelson Mandela is not only an African asset but a global icon, so the whole world is now interested in his health matters which originally should have been his private issue.
There is a thin line between public figures and their private matters and therefore appropriate notice should be taken. This comes against the backdrop that public figures in one way or the other affect the society and for that matter everything about them should be made public.
But I think that the stakeholders involved (the public figures, their families and the media) should always maintain sanity by setting the boundaries without stepping on toes.
I WISH MY AFRICAN HERO A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

KWADASO C.A.C CELEBRATES ANIMS WEEK

The Choreography session

The Kwadaso Christ Apostolic Church International has celebrated the church’s founder Apostle Anim. The one week long event known as “Anim’s week”, which has always been dedicated to the Children Fellowship of the church saw them leading and taking control of various segments of the church service like master of ceremony, praises and worship, Bible reading among few others.
To mark the climax of the celebration, the Children Fellowship yesterday put together spectacular and mind-blowing activities such as Bible quotation recital, choreography and Bible discussion. A four year old boy stole the show when he single handedly recited all the 39 books of the Old Testament. Six children also posed as professors of the Bible and discussed the essence of tithing amidst massive applause from the whole congregation.
The Anim’s week celebration is an annual activity on the church’s calendar which is observed every February, worldwide.
Special prayers were said for the entire children in the church to bring the successful event to an end.

COMMUNITY LIBRARIES DEAD IN GHANA

Of late, what used to be well stocked community libraries have all turned white elephants. Previously, young adults and students had the opportunity and privilege of visiting community libraries that contained several varieties of books that helped shaped both academic and social lifestyles.
Personally, I can recount how visiting the library when growing up shaped my hand writing because that was the place I practiced how to write well. It was an interesting habit, and scores of my contemporaries will not allow any opportunity to pass by in a week without visiting the library. Among the interesting novels then were “Peter and Jane” and “Tin Tin”. I can’t also lose sight of the serious discussions and debate that erupted in our various classrooms after reading a popular book at the library, some way somehow, these exercise shaped our academic life.
Arguably, the opposite is the case in most places in Ghana. Most of our community libraries have been turned into either merchandised stores or offices meant for other purposes. A good number of young adults today have been deprived of the luxury of having access to a well furnished and stocked community libraries. Another disturbing aspect is that, in places where there are few existing ones, most especially in our cities; students do not patronize them because of the advent of the internet particularly the social media.
Therefore, I am making a passionate appeal to the government, traditional rulers and city authorities to revisit the establishment of more community libraries in Ghana. Libraries are worth investing in them, because they serve as fundamental educational institutions for the entire community.

DEVELOP THE SPIRIT OF RECONCILIATION - REV ATSIWAH

The area head pastor of the Kwadaso central branch of the Christ Apostolic Church Int, Rev. E.K. Atsiwah has appealed to all Christians to develop the spirit of reconciliation as Christ taught mankind.
"As Christians, our core responsibility is to represent Christ on earth and to fully conduct ourselves as ambassadors of Christ" he said.

He made this humble appeal when the church held a special circuit meeting at the Kwadaso central branch of the church to mark the last Sunday service of 2012.
He asserted that as Christ died to save mankind, so does the onus lie on Christians to preach messages about the salvation of Christ and to be vessels of reconciliation.
He reminded Christians that the yuletide enjoins everybody to live in peace with everyone, speak peace, preach peace and to practice peace.
The congregation said special prayers for their families and the nation.

WHERE IS THE PATRIOTISM?

It comes with much surprise and bombshell, how our parliamentarians unanimously and hastily approved to be paid such gigantic sums of money. The most horrible part of the increase in emoluments is that of the executive arm of government.
The salaries of MPs jumped from GH¢3,500 to GH¢7,200 per month for each lawmaker .That of the president has been increased to GH¢12,000, Ministers of State and their deputies are also to earn between GH¢8,000 and GH¢9000 respectively, just like presidential staffers and aides.
These figures were agreed upon after a closed sitting of Parliament on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, after the executive had also approved that of the MPs in a game of “you scratch my back, I scratch your back……..One good turn deserves another”.
Shockingly, with the latest upward adjustments, members of these two arms of government would all benefit from arrears which would take retrospective effect from 2009.
My biggest worry is that, is Ghana that rich to pay such amount of monies? Is Ghana not the same country that some people can’t afford three-square meal a day? Is it not this same country that is always securing loans from other countries?
GOD SHOULD SAVE US.
